Torosidis becomes Greece’s 5th most capped player
Vasilis Torosidis registered his 96th cap for the Greek national team becoming the 5th highest capped player in team history.

In Tuesday’s friendly against Egypt, the Greek captain was subbed on in the 89th minute for Michalis Bakakis to register his 96th cap with the national team. Torosidis’ 96th appearance for the Galanolefki moves him into the top-5 of Greece’s most capped players along with Stratos Apostolakis.
Ahead of Torosidis and Apostolakis are Aggelos Basinas (100 caps), Kostas Katsouranis (116 caps), Theodoros Zagorakis (120 caps), and top of the list Georgios Karagounis (139 caps).
Torosidis debut with the national team in a EURO 2008 qualifier against Turkey on March 24, 2007, and since then has been a key player for the Ethniki over the last 11 years.
