Tricky tests for AEK and PAO, Easier for OLY and PAOK
Both AEK and Panathinaikos received tricky draws in the Last 16 of the Greek Cup as they will matchup against Panetolikos and Lamia, respectively. Olympiacos will face Platanias while PAOK will play Trikala.
On Monday afternoon, the Greek Cup Last 16 draw was held at the offices of the Hellenic Football Federation. AEK were handed the theoretically toughest test out of the Big-4 as they will match up against Panaitolikos. Panathinaikos will also have a tricky test after being paired Lamia. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Lamia in Superleague play earlier this season.
Olympiacos will play the Superleague’s last placed team, Platanias, while the theoretically easiest draw fell to PAOK, who will face Trikala from the Football League.
Two in-form teams, Asteras Tripolis and Atromitos, will pair up in the Last 16 while a strong matchup between PAS Giannina and Levadiakos is expected. Xanthi will be the slight favorites to advance over Larissa while Panionios were fortunate to pull the only Football League club from the seeded sides, OFI.
The first leg matches will be held on December 19-21 and the return legs are scheduled for January 9-11. Below are the eight paris for this year's Greek Cup Last 16.
