Aris were held to a goalless draw over the weekend while both OFI and Panachaiki celebrated victory. In Drama, Doxa Dramas and Aiginiakos played to an entertaining 3:3 draw as both Panserraikos and Ergotelis grabbed important wins in theri fight to avoid the drop.
Aris’ seven game winning streak came to an end after a goalless draw at home to Trikala. The Thessalonikis put together a below par performance while the visitors, who trail Aris by 16 points in the standings, were the more threatening side in the 90 minutes of play. Despite the draw, Aris remain top of the table with 49 points with OFI and Panachaiki close behind at 45 and 43 points, respectively.
OFI made it six wins in consecutive matches with a narrow 1:0 victory over Anagennisi Karditsas in Irakleio. Manos, who is one of the Football League’s most in-form scorers at the moment, netted home the only goal of the match just before the quarter hour mark. The Trikala born striker leads the league with an impressive 14 goals. The result keeps OFI two points clear of third placed Panachaiki and just four points behind the leaders, Aris.
Panachaiki remained within striking distance of promotion with a 1:0 win over relegation bound Kallithea. Moraitis’ ninth goal of the season (59) gave the three points to the Patra side, who sit on 3 points, two behind second placed OFI and six behind the leaders, Aris.
Drama hosted one of the matches of the season as the local side, Doxa Dramas, played to a 3:3 draw with Aiginiakos. Goundoulakis opened the scoring for the hosts in the 31st minute, before two goals early in the second half (49, 50) saw Aiginiakos take a surprise 1:2 lead. In similar fashion, Doxa Dramas re-took the lead within a span of five minutes (63, 68) as Georgiadis and Kouskounas found the back of the net. The hosts held their lead until the 86th minute when Zourkos leveled the score, to salvage a point for Aiginiakos. Doxa Dramas remain middle of the table while Aiginiakos hold 11th spot, three points clear of the relegation zone.
In other action, Panserraikos cruised to an important 3:0 victory over Panegialios as both teams look to avoid the drop. The weekend result now has the two clubs tied for 14th spot on 16 points as they both sit in the relegation zone. Apollon Pontou thumped Sparti 0:4 on the road while Ergotelis claimed three valuable points over AOX Kissamikos on Monday, as the Irakleio side defeated their island rivals from Chania with a 0:3 scoreline.
Apollon Larissas and Karaiskakis were awarded all three points against Veria and Acharnaikos, who have withdrawn from the league.
