Tripolis blitz Platanias to move out of drop zone
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 11
|Platanias||0 - 3||Asteras Tripolis|
Asteras Tripolis heaped more misery on bottom club Platanias by thumping their Cretan opponents 3-0 away from home in a crucial bottom-of-the-table SuperLeague clash in Chania on Sunday, while PAS Giannina were held to a 1-1 home draw by Panaitolikos.
Goals from Ivory Coast forward Cedric Gondo, defender Triantafyllos Pasalidis and Greek forward Michalis Manias secured a well-deserved three-point haul for the Arcadians, who moved from 15th to 12th in the standings.
Platanias, who are enduring a woeful campaign, remain rooted to the foot of the table with just six points from 11 matches.
PAS Giannina held to home draw by battling Panaitolikos
|PAS Giannina||1 - 1||Panetolikos|
|Soltani 22'||Morar 69'|
PAS Giannina missed out on the chance to edge into the top half of the table after they were held to a 1-1 home draw at the Zosimades Stadium by Panaitolikos.
The home side started brightly and took the lead after 22 minutes through Algerian forward Karim Soltani, but they were pegged back in the 69th minute by a strike from Panaitolikos’ Romania forward Vlad Morar.
The result was harsh on PAS, who also hit the woodwork twice, Spanish forward Pedro Conte and Konstantinos Mavropanos the unlucky players.
As a result, PAS move up to eighth spot with 14 points from 11 matches, while Panaitolikos slip to second-from-bottom.
