Asteras Tripolis won a SuperLeague match for the first time since Matchday 11 on Wednesday, claiming an unlikely 4-1 win at Larissa and easing their relegation worries slightly in the process.
Staikos Vergetis’ Tripolis side, who are the SuperLeague draw specialists and had not won a match since another 4-1 win over Panaitolikos on January 15, largely had Michalis Manias to thank, as the Greek striker bagged a hat-trick which included a last-minute penalty.
Argentine midfielder Pablo Mazza was also on target from the penalty spot to complete teh scoring for Tripolis, who moved two points and one pace above Larissa into 13th spot, seven points clear of the two relegation places.
Thomas Nazlidis was the lone scorer for Larissa, who are lingering dangerously just five points clear of the relegation zone.
