Unbeaten PAOK Thump Lamia
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 7
|PAOK||4 - 0||Lamia|
PAOK flexed their muscles once again at the Toumba on Sunday to hammer Lamia 4-0 and move top of the SuperLeague, two points clear of AEK a few hours ahead of the Kitronomavri’s match at Skoda Xanthi.
Razvan Lucescu’s side, playing in front of an empty stadium due to a supporter-ban because of crowd troubles last season, had too much quality for the visitors, as a brace from striker Aleksandar Prijović (24, 88) and further goals from Croatian defender Marin Leovac (10) and Greek midfielder Dimitris Pelkas (50) put Lamia to the sword easily.
It’s a result which moved PAOK - who are unbeaten so far this season - on to 15 points from seven matches, and ensured that the Salonica giants maintained their 100 per cent record at their Toumba stadium despite not yet having played a league game in front of any fans so far this season.
PAOK now lead the standings and will remain top if AEK fail to beat Skoda Xanthi in Matchday 7’s late Sunday kickoff at 20:30 local time.
PAOK’s form is also an ominous sign for Olympiacos, who host their title rivals at the Georgios Karaiskakis next weekend for what is sure to be a red hot derby clash in Piraeus.
