No one outside of Greece knew Atromitos before this campaign, but the small capital club have forced people to stand up and take notice. Aided by the rock solid Andreas Gianniotis, who is yet to concede a goal this season, Atromitos remain undefeated in the Super League. Just to make his statistics look even more impressive, Gianniotis is the only European goalkeeper who has not conceded a goal this season. Atromitos have let in three, but they were scored with Nikola Mirkovic between the sticks.

On average, Atromitos concede 0.3 goals a game, something which is unprecedented. The only team which has a better record is Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade with an average of 0.25, but the Serbian league is generally regarded as being weaker than the Greek championship. In Europe’s top 30 leagues, Atromitos are one of the eleven teams which lead the standings without any defeats. Atromitos have won five Super League matches, while drawing the remaining five.

The Czech Republic’s Viktoria Plzen own the best European record out of all teams, winning the first thirteen matches in their domestic league. Sheriff from Moldova have won thirteen and drawn three in the first sixteen games of the Moldovan season, meaning that Atromitos still have some way to go if they are to better those statistics.

European statistics for goals conceded:

  1. Atromitos: 3 goals in 10 matches - 0.3, Red Star: 3 goals in 13 matches - 0.25
  2. Viktoria Plzen: 4 goals in 13 matches - 0.31
  3. Porto: 4 goals in 11 matches - 0.36
  4. Barcelona: 4 goals in 11 matches - 0.36
  5. PAOK: 4 goals in 10 matches: 0.4
  6. Manchester United: 5 goals in 11 matches - 0.45
  7. Levadiakos: 5 goals in 10 matches - 0.5
