Up to 10 signings for Panathinaikos
Panathinaikos are leaving today for the first stage of pre-season training and developments in the singing’s department are expected to unfold at a rapid pace in the next week.
The Prasini are leaving today for Tegelen, where they will hold their first stage of pre-season training until July 15. Marinos Ouzounidis announced the players that will travel to Holland and the list did include some surprises. Players that were surely on their way out of the club will be present for the first stage of training including Lautaro Rinaldi, Yens Vemer, Rasmus Thelander, and Nuno Reis.
In the signings department, Panathinaikos have already made two moves with Altman and Kolovetsios, however with a a few weeks until their first match in Europa League qualifying, the Prasini are in dire need of enhancements. With Berg, Leto, Klonaridis, and M’Poku having departed and Vlahodimos and Boumal sidelined, the only attacking players in the roster are Molins, Altman, Chatzigiannis, and Pispas.
Villafanez’s injury will likely keep him out of the Prasini’s first match as he suffers from a bone bruise. According to Marinos Ouzounidis, the signings of a forward and a wing forward are a TOP priority at the club so that the team is somewhat ready for the Europa League qualifying matches at the end of the month.
Panathinaikos could make up to 10 signings by the end of the summer including two forwards, three wing forwards, one center midfielder, and two wing half-backs. If we add Altman and Kolovetsios, who have already joined the Trifylli, the number of signings could increase to ten. The question that remains is if the restricted budget will allow the Prasini to bring players of desired quality or if Ouzounidis will be forced to work with cheaper, and possibly lower quality players this season.
For the striker’s position, Marinos Ouzounidis had given the green light for Erdinc and Stojiljković, however both cases are difficult. Erdinc has contract demands close to €1 million and Stojiljković’s loan from Braga could cost the club up to €800.000, and amount Panathinaikos are not willing to pay.
As for departures, Mubarak Wakaso will be released from Panathinaikos and sign with Spanish side Alaves within the week. Olivier Boumal is close to joining Chinese club Liaoning Whowin, as the player decided to forgive the amount owed to him by Panathinaikos in exchange for his release. Finally, Panagiotis Vlachodimos appears to be close to his former club, Nimes. The 25- year old did not join the rest of the team in Tegelen and will part ways with the Trifylli.
