Vellios finally scores first English Championship goal of the season
Greek striker Apostolos Vellios finally found the net in the English Championship on Tuesday night, while Nottingham Forest teammate Stefanos Kapino registered his first clean sheet in England.
26-year old Vellios has endured a desperate campaign in the second tier of English football, rarely getting a start for Nottingham Forest and struggling to hit the target. In a disappointing statistic, Vellios hadn’t scored a single Championship marker this season in 10 appearances, but he finally bagged a goal in Nottingham’s 3:0 win against Barnsley.
With the score at 2:0 in Nottingham’s favour, a loose ball fell to striker Vellios, who expertly sent the rebound into the unguarded net. Vellios scored just ten minutes after emerging as a second half substitute.
Former Olympiacos goalkeeper Stefanos Vellios competed in his second match in the Championship since signing for Nottingham Forest, saving three Barnsley shots to earn his first clean sheet.
