On Sunday, Staikos Vergetis was sacked by Asteras Tripolis and shortly after, Savvas Pantelidis was announced as the club’s new head coach. The club’s captain, Pablo Mazza has also terminated his contract with the club and will return to Argentina due to personal reasons.
After three matchdays in the SuperLeague, Asteras Tripolis have decided to part ways with head coach Staikos Vergetis. The Arkades have had a poor start to the new season sitting in 14th place with one draw and two losses after three games. The club's decision came after Asteras Tripolis suffered a 1-3 home loss to newly promoted side Lamia on Saturday.
Shortly after the sacking of Vergetis, Savvas Pantelidis was announced as the club’s new head coach. The former Iraklis man will look to turn things around in Tripoli and lead the club to high table finish at the end of the season.
The captain of Asteras Tripolis, Pablo Mazza, will also leave the club after a three year stay in Tripoli. Mazza was forced to terminate his contract with Asteras due to personal reasons and will return back to Argentina immediately. Mazza joined Asteras in 2014 and has played a leading role with the side, leading the Arkades to great success over the years, including a spot in the 2014/15 Europa League group stages.
