A brace from Egypt midfielder Amr Warda guided Atromitos to a comfortable 3-1 away win over Kerkyra in the opening fixture of SuperLeague macthday 15 on Saturday.
The 24-year-old midfielder struck in the 59th and 62nd minutes to break the home side’s determined resistance and effectively end the match as a contest at the Kerkyra stadium in Corfu.
Stefanos Siontis did pull a goal back for Kerkyra after 77 minutes but any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the third minute of added time when in-form Atromitos midfielder Theodoros Vasilakakis fired in a third goal.
That secured a third win in a row for Damir Canadi’s team, who moved level on 30 points with leaders AEK Athens, who were in action later against Apollon Smyrni.
For Kerkyra, things are looking increasingly difficult heading into the Christmas break as they are second from bottom with just 11 points from their 15 matches played.
