Why Stanojevic was sacked by PAOK
PAOK’s officials announced the reasons why Aleksandar Stanojevic was replaced by Razvan Lucescu.
After a short spell that lasted under 2 months, Aleksandar Stanojevic was sacked by PAOK. Razvan Lucescu, who was on PAOK’s list to replace Vladan Ivic in May, is the new man in charge after Stanojevic’s contract was terminated by the Dikefalos tou Vora. PAOK’s officials proceeded to a statement explaining the reasons that led to that decision.
“After almost two months, Stanojevic seemed to find difficulties in adapting to the team’s mentality and started to doubt our goals, to which he believed in before signing. Although quality players were added to the team’s roster and no major players left, no improvement was seen under Stanojevic’s guidance. There was a general malfunction within the team that could not be overlooked. The team appeared to be confused and insecure. Lubos Michel, who is in charge of evaluating the team’s progress, suggested Stanojevic’s replacement to be Razvan Lucescu. Everyone agreed with this proposal and the club’s owner gave the final approval to proceed with the coaching change.”
As for Lucescu, PAOK’s officials stated that “he has great belief in the team’s roster and potential, while after three years in Greece he has knowledge of Greek football and does not need time to adapt to PAOK’s mentality. Moreover, he did not hide behind any excuses such as claims that there is little time to commit to PAOK’s goals.
