PAOK will face huge consequences for the fan violence and suspension of the Greek Cup semi-final against Olympiacos in March. EPO’s Disciplinary Committee has decided to punish PAOK with -5 points in the Greek SuperLeague, 5 games without fans (closed stadium), and a €112,000 fine. PAOK will appeal the decision in hopes of getting a “lighter” punishment.
The -5 points will drop PAOK down to 39 points, leaving the Thessalonikiotes in 5th Place behind Panionios, who has 41 points. Despite the deduction PAOK still holds the advantage over PAS Giannina and Platanias (each with 35 points) to grab the final playoff spot.
Having only one home game left in the SuperLeague regular season, and three home games during the playoffs (if they qualify), the Touba Stadium will not open again this year. The 5th “closed stadium” game will be transferred to next year’s SuperLeague season.
