| Fuster 19', 65'
Olympiacos has mathematically clinched the 2016 Greek SuperLeague Title after today’s 3-0 win against Veria at the Giorgios Karaiskakis stadium. This is the 43rd SuperLeague title in Olympiacos’ history, which is the most by any other Greek Club. Two goals from David Fuster and one from Alan Poulido gave the home side the 3-0 win.
Despite a very disappointing loss to Anderlecht in the Europa League Round of 32, Olympiacos continued their success in the Greek SuperLeague. Fan favorite, David Fuster, gave Olympiacos the lead in the 19th minute in a rather quite first half for the Erythrolefki. In the second half, Fuster doubled the lead and Pulido added a third in the final ten minutes. Throughout the second 45’ Olympiacos provided great entertainment for its fans having multiple chances to further its lead.
The 43rd title for Olympiacos is the quickest in the history of Greece’s First Division. Olympiacos had the previous record from the 2012-2013 season under coach Ernesto Valverde where the Erythrolefki clinched the title on March 10th, more than 10 days after this year’s title. Additionally, the 43rd title puts Olympiacos in 4th place in all of Europe with the most domestic league championships. The three teams ahead of Olympiacos are Rangers from Scotland (53 league titles), Linfield from Northern Ireland (51 league titles), and Celtic from Scotland with 46 league titles. Outside of Europe only two teams have more league championships than Olympiacos, Uruguayan clubs Penarol and Nacional Montevideo with 47 and 45 league title, respectively.
