“Diamanti” Panathinaikos

On a night dedicated to Dimitris Diamantidis, Panathinaikos was victorious 76-60 against Cedevita and clinched their place in the Euroleague Playoffs. The Greens will finish, at minimum, third place and with a win next week at Efes, along with a loss from Lokomotiv, will finish second in the group.

In a packed house to honor Diamantidis as a “Euroleague legend,” the fans subsequently celebrated Panathinaikos’ place in the Euroleague Playoffs. The Greens had an easy night, taking their foot of the gas in the final 15 minutes, earning a 76-60 win. Although the home side won by 16 points, the difference reached up to 29 points when the score was 53-24. The leading scorer for Panathinaikos was Gist with 15 points, followed by “the man of the hour”, Diamantidis, with 10 points.

At minimum, Panathinaikos has clinched third place in the group. Next week they will look to defeat Efes and wait for Lokomotiv Kuban’s defeat against Darussafaka to finish in second place, leading to home court advantage in the Euroleague playoffs.
