The series between Panathinaikos and Aris is going to Game 5! Aris defeated Panathinaikos 56-50 in Game 4 of the Greek A1 Basket League Playoff Semi-Finals and tied the series 2-2. Game 5 will take place on Saturday at the OAKA Stadium in Athens.

Both teams started off the match very cold and the first quarter ended with Panathinaikos ahead 8-12. With their dominance on both offensive and defensive boards, the visitors increased their lead to 10 points by the end of the first half. Aris came out of the locker rooms on fire, going 4/4 from three-point range and tying the game 32-32. The Thessalonikiotes took advantage of Panathinaikos’ turnovers and Aris took a 4-point lead into the fourth quarter. The lead increased to 8 points before Panathinaikos went on an 11-0 run (led by Williams) to re-take a 3-point lead. Aris re-took control of the game responding with a 6-0 run. Panathinaikos seemed tired and out of options, since Haynes, Feldeine, and Gist were all suspended by Pedoulakis for staying out late Monday night in Thessaloniki. Aris kept their composure and came away victorious 56-50.

Aris’ win sends the best of 5 series to a final Game 5. The final match will take place on Saturday in Athens and the winner will advance to the Basket League Playoffs Finals to play Olympiacos (swept AEK 3-0).
