- Huge Point for 10-Men PAOK -
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE PLAYOFFS - MATCHDAY 2
|Panathinaikos||1 - 1||PAOK|
|Berg 46'||Charisis 49'|
PAOK was left with 10 men in the 20th minute, fell behind 1-0, but was able to get a point (1-1 draw) in Athens against Panathinaikos. The draw is a very important result for PAOK, which keeps them atop the SuperLeague Playoffs Table.
Panathinaikos had a great chance early on to open the score, but Glykos denied Berg with a great save. In the 20th minute, PAOK found themselves down to 10-men after Tziolis was sent off for a very dangerous tackle on Zeca. The second part of the first half had little action and both teams went into the break goalless. One minute into the second half, Berg found space and with a fantastic left footed strike opened the score for Panathinaikos. PAOK responded 3 minutes later with a “goalara” of their own from Charisis. The Prasini had a chance to re-take the lead in the 75th minute, but Berg’s strike hit the crossbar and stayed out. Other than the two goals, and one crossbar, the second half had little action and the game ended 1-1.
Considering the circumstances, the 1-1 draw is a very important result for PAOK. The point keeps them atop the SuperLeague standings, with Panathinaikos, on four points. On Wednesday, PAOK travels to Nea Smyrni to play Panionios while Panathinaikos’s game with AEK has been postponed for a later date (due to the Greek Cup Final on Tuesday).
