Greece’s Final Roster for Friendlies in Australia

- Greece’s Final Roster for Friendlies in Australia -

Greek coach, Michael Skibbe, announced the final 23 man roster for Greece’s upcoming friendlies in Australia. There are a few new faces to the team but also some troubling absences!

Bakasetas and Boukouvalis were called up for the first time to the national team while Maniatis, Christodoulopoulos, and Gianniotas will make a return to the Galanolefki. On the other hand, Manolas (getting married), Papastathopoulos, Fortounis, and Mitroglou were all left out of the roster for personal reasons. Mitroglou announced that he was dealing with a slight injury and could not join the team in Australia. This is an ironic absence as Mitroglou seemed fine in yesterday’s match for Benfica, scoring two goals for his club.

Greece will play Australia in two friendly matches on June 4th and 7th in Sydney and Melbourne, respectively. Greece, who did not qualify for Euro 2016, is preparing for FIFA World Cup Qualifying, which begins in October. The Greek team will leave for Australia on May 31st and the players that are taking part in the SuperLeague Playoffs will join the rest of the team at the conclusion of the playoffs.
