**Panathinaikos leads the series 1-0**

A great showing from Nick Calathes (21 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds) led Panathinaikos to a 85-79 win over Aris in game 1 of the Greek A1 Basket League Playoff Semi-Finals. The victory gives Panathinaikos a 1-0 lead in the best of 5 series.

After a close first quarter both teams went into the second quarter tied 19-19. Both teams were scoring at the beginning of the second quarter until Calathes and Williams led Panathinaikos into a 7-point lead into halftime. The third quarter got off to a slow start, but Calathes took charge of his team again and the Greens took a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter. Pappas dropped two three-pointers at the beginning of the fourth, giving his team a 16 point advantage. During the fourth quarter, Panathinaikos took their foot off the gas, letting Aris slowly cut the home side’s lead. The deficit was too much to overcome for the Thessalonikiotes and Panathinaikos was victorious 85-79. The leading scorers for Panathinaikos were Calathes with 21 points, Williams with 18 points, and Pappas with 12 points. Waters led the visitors with 12 points.

 Game 2 will take place on Friday, again at the OAKA Stadium in Athens.
