The first half was played at a slow pace with few chances for either team. The highlight of the first half was off the pitch as the “organized fans” of Iraklis approached the seats where the club’s board members sat and threw flares to show their dissatisfaction with their current handling of the club. On the pitch, the two teams remained goalless at the break.
It was a completely different game in the second half as both teams not only found the back of the net, but created additional chances to score. The opening 35 minutes of the half was marked by wasted opportunities from both sides and great defending from Iraklis’ Ziabaris and Bartolini, who denied Atromitos sure goals. As the game approached the final 10 minutes it seemed that neither team would find the breakthrough, but in the 77th minute the referee pointed to the spot for Ziabaris’ foul on Stojcev. From the 11-meters, Umbides gave Atromitos the 0-1 lead. The hosts looked troubled after conceding but they did not go down without a fight and in the 84th minute Lukinas equalized from close-range. The match was not done there. as a mistake from Kyriakidis in the midfield sent Atromitos on the counterattack and the ball made its way to Tonso, who passed everyone to walk the ball into the back of the net and give Atromitos the 1-2 road win.
Under Korakaki, Atromitos has remained undefeated for 4 matches with three wins and one draw, sittin on 10 points in the standings. As for Iraklis, another hard fought match ends with defeat as the team from Thessaloniki remain at the bottom of the table with 2 points.
