Tzavellas and Fortounis RULED Out Against Estonia
Giorgos Tzavellas and Kostas Fortounis have both been ruled out for Greece's upcoming qualifier away to Estonia.
Greece earned an important victory on Friday at home to Cyprus to go two for two in World Cup Qualifying. The win came at the expense of two injuries, Giorgos Tzavellas and Kostas Fortounis. Tzavellas will be out for one month, something that will hurt PAOK's backline, and the extent of Fortounis’ injury is unknown. Both players were in the starting line-up in Greece’s victory over Cyprus on Friday.
Michael Skibbe will have to turn to other options to replace the two injured players. Jose Holebas will likely take Tzavellas’ place in the left-back position with Kostas Stafylidis also posing a valuable option. Finding Kostas Fortounis’ replacement will be a challenge for Skibbe as the Olympiacos star was one Greece’s best players against Cyprus. Mantalos could move from the right wing position to play behind the striker (in place of Fortounis) with Gianniotas having the first say to play on the wing.
Greece will play Estonia on Monday at 2:45 PM EST.
