-- Kougias Surprisingly Sacks Anastasiadis --
A surprise move from Alexis Kougias! The major shareholder of AE Larissa decided to sack the club’s entire coaching staff including the manager Angelos Anastasiadis.
Shocking news came from AE Larissa this morning as head coach Angelos Anastasiadis was sacked by the club, specifically by major shareholder Alexis Kougias. In addition to Anastasiadis, his entire coaching staff, the technical director, and many others joined him in his departure from the club. The announcement was a surprise to all as Larissa defeated an in-form Panionios side on Saturday. In the meantime, Kostas Matzokas and Vaggelis Tsotsas will be the interim managers. Kougias stated “I want to make AEL a family and if I don't accomplish this I will also leave. Usually before I make decisions like this I count to 100, in the case of Anastasiadis I counted to 1000.” He went on to say that Larissa will have a head coach before their weekend fixture against Panetolikos. As unbelievable as it sounds, it was later known that Anastasiadis FIRST HEARD of his release fom Larissa after talking with Sportfm.gr reporter Vasilis Veris rather than from the club (or shareholder) itself! Truly remarkable...
Sakis Tsiolis and Marino Ouzounidis are the first names being thrown around as Anastasiadis’ successor. This season under the Greek manager, Larissa has 2 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses sitting in 11th place in the Superleague standings with 8 points.
