Galatasaray earned their first victory in this year's Euroleague, defeating Olympiacos 89-87 in Turkey. In a game that saw both teams pull ahead by double digits, a late push from Olympiacos was not enough as Galatasaray held on to a close 2-point victory.

Olympiacos got off to a tremendous start going ahead 6-20 in the first quarter before a 19-0 run from the hosts (began in the 1st quarter and carried over into the 2nd quarter) put Galatasaray ahead 25-20. Things got worse for Olympiacos as Galatasaray increased their lead to 12-points (38-26), however before halftime Olympiacos was able to respond with an 8-0 run and cut the Turkish side's lead to four points (38-34).

Everything that Olympiacos accomplished at the end of the first half was thrown away in the opening minutes of the second half, with Galatasaray regaining their double digit advantage (56-42). Again the Olympiacos defense responded and they went into the final 10 minutes only down by six (63-57). Olympiacos cut Galatasaray's lead to as little as 2-points (70-68) before lackluster defending from the Erythrolefki allowed the hosts to convert from behind the arch and pull ahead by 8-points (79-71). The visitors had one last push and only trailed by 2-points (89-87) with less than a second remaining, when Printezis’ 3-pointer was blocked and Galatasaray celebrated their first victory in this year's Euroleague.

Today's loss moves Olympiacos to 0.500 in this year's Euroleague with a 3-3 record while Galatasaray move to 1-5. This is Olympiacos’ second consecutive loss in the Euroleague after losing to CSKA Moscow at home last week. Their next match will be a tough encounter at the Stadio Erinis kai Filias against Barcelona.
