-- Larissa Fights for a Point in Tripoli --
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 12
|Asteras Tripolis||1 - 1||Larissa|
|Ioannidis (p) 18'||Nazlidis (p) 77'|
Despite falling behind early and playing with 10-men, Larissa salvaged a point in Tripolis against Asteras. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw with each side scoring a penalty in either half.
Things got off to a rough start for Larissa as they were left with 10-men in the 16th minute after Jovanovic’s foul in the box led to a straight red card. The questionable penalty was converted by Ioannidis, giving Asteras Tripolis the early lead. The hosts had multiple opportunities to put the game and they fell unlucky on two occasions when both Dimoutsos (38’) and Stanisavljevic (86’) were denied by the woodwork.
Although down a man for most of the match, Larissa continued to fight for an equalizer and it came in the 77th minute. Dimoutsos committed a clumsy foul in the penalty area and Larissa was awarded a penalty. From the spot, Nazlidis pulled Larissa level and the two teams were awarded a point from the 1-1 draw.
After today’s result, both teams continue to sit in the bottom half of the table with Asteras on 10-points and Larissa on 9-points. Next weekend, Tripoli will travel to Xanthi while Larissa host an in-form Atromitos side.
