Platanias celebrated their first win in 8 games after defeating Sparti 1-0 in Chania. The only goal of the game came six minutes into the second half when Goundoulakis put away Llorente’s low cross to score Platanias’ 2nd goal in nine games. Sparti had a tremendous chance to earn a point at the end of the match when Vellinis’ went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot missed the target. The win brings Platanias up to 3-points from two games along with Sparti and Olympiacos (play tomorrow against Chania). Highlights can be found here...

Despite the poor weather conditions and many changes to the starting line-up, PAS Giannina was able to come away with 0-1 victory away to Agrotikos Asteras and clinch their place in the next round of the Greek Cup. The only goal of the game came right before halftime with Donis’ header from Acosta’s cross. The win puts PAS Giannina on 6 points from two games as Agrotikos Asteras sits on 3 points. Kalloni and Xanthi, who both lost their opening fixtures, will face off in matchday 2. Highlights can be found here...

Aris completed a great comeback to salvage a point against Asteras Tripolis in an entertaining match that ended in a 3-3 draw. Mazza opened the scoring in the 14th minute for Asteras and 11 minutes later, Bargan equalized for Aris. It only took four minutes for Asteras Tripolis to retake the lead with Ioannidis’ header from Tsilianidis’ shot that hit the woodwork. The two teams continued their “all out attack” tactics as Asteras found themselves 2 goals ahead with Tsilianidis’ goal from the penalty spot. It seemed that Asteras Tripolis was well on their way to earning all three points and securing their place in the next round, before Tatos brought Aris back in the game with his goal from the penalty spot. The same player struck again two minutes later with a powerful, deflected shot that found the back of the net and salvaged a point for Aris in a dramatic 3-3 draw. The two teams sit atop Group E with 4 points as Aiginiakos trails the two clubs by only one point. Highlights can be found here...

Aiginiakos pulled off a surprise result away to Veria, defeating the Superleague side 0-1. The winner came six minutes from time through Zourkos, making Aiginiakos the first Football League team to defeat a Superleague team in this year’s competition. The win moves Aiginiakos up to 3 points in Group E, one behind both Asteras Tripolis and Aris, while Veria was mathematically eliminated from the competition, sitting on zero points from two games.
