Olympiacos had an easy night in Crete as they defeated Chania 0-4 in the second matchday of Greek Cup group play. The visitors scored three goals in the first half through Cambiaso, Ideye, and an own goal from Theologou before a tremendous strike from Pardo in the second half gave Olympiacos the 0-4 win. The win secures Olympiacos’ place in the next round of the competition.
Olympiacos got off to a strong start against Chania in Crete as Cambiasso opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a powerful left-footed strike. The Erythrolefki had complete control of possession and never seemed troubled during the match as the second goal quickly followed when Ideye turned in Figueiras’ cross for the 2-0 lead. The hosts were unlucky in the 42nd minute when Theologou got the final touch on Marin’s corner, turning the ball into his own net to give Olympiacos a 3 goal advantage. Pardo saved the best goal for last, cleverly dribbling passed his opponent before his tremendous strike from outside the penalty area found the back of the net. The 0-4 score stood until the final whistle as Olympiacos celebrated their place in the knockout stages.
Platanias, Sparti, and Chania will fight for the final spot in Group B which leads to a place in the last 16 of the competition. Platanias and Sparti each sit on 3-points while Chania has zero points after two games. On the final matchday, Sparti will host Olympiacos as the two neighbors, Platanias and Chania, battle it out in Chania.
