14-Dec-16 Kallithea 1 - 5 Panetolikos
14-Dec-16 Panthrakikos 0 - 3 Atromitos

The Superlegeaue sides each recorded big wins over the teams from the Football League as Panetolikos and Atromitos secured their place in the next round of the Greek Cup. Kerkyra blew out Anagennisi Karditsa, but remained out, while Platanias (defeated Chania) will await tomorrow’s result between Sparti and Olympiacos to see if they will advance to the next round.

Two goals in the opening 14 minutes were enough for Atromitos to claim first place in Group G and earn a spot in the Round of 16 of the Greek Cup as they defeated Panthrakikos 0-3. Tonso opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a great solo effort and finish. Atromitos’ lead was doubled three minutes later when Bastakos scored his first professional goal as his volley found the back of the net. A great night was capped off by Tonso right after the restart with yet another impressive solo effort to increase Atromitos’ advantage to three goals. The win not only sealed Atromitos’ place in the next round, but it gave them first place in the group, despite being tied with Panetolikos on six points (Atromitos defeated Panetolikos on matchday 1). Panthrakikos was eliminated as they finished third with three points from three matches.

Panetolikos joined Atromitos from Group G in the knockout stages of the Greek Cup after a big win over Kallithea. The team from Agrinio defeated Kallithea 1-5, scoring FOUR goals within 23 minutes in the first half. Rosa led the way in the 15th minute, then Markovski added two more in the 24th and 28th minutes, before Clesio gave his side a 0-4 lead in the 38th minute. In the 72nd minute, Rosa added his name for the second time to the score sheet before Topali scored a consolation goal for Kallithea six minutes from time. The win put Panetolikos on 6 points, tied with Atromitos, as they claimed second place due to their poor head-to-head with Atromitos (were defeated 1-0 in the opening matchday). Kallithea bows out of the competition with only three points from three games.

Platanias got the job done against their neighbors’ Chania, and now await tomorrow’s result between Sparti and Olympiacos to see if they will progress to the next round. Chania shocked Platanias in the fourth minute when Dilaver sent the ball into his own net and Chania took the 1-0 lead. However, two goals within three minutes gave Platanias the lead when Giakoumakis equalized in the 24th minute and Dinas scored the go-ahead goal in the 27th minute. The Superleague side held onto their advantage at the final whistle and will now await tomorrow’s result between Sparti and Olympiacos. For Platanias to progress, they will Olympiacos to either defeat or draw Sparti. If Sparti does pull off the surprise result, Olympiacos, Sparti, and Platanias will all be tied on six points and the tie-breaker will be decided based on better goal differential of the teams using only the games between the three teams.

Kerkyra thrashed Anagennisi Karditsa 0-6 in the final match of Group F but despite the big win, was eliminated from the competition. The other group match between AEK and Lamia finished in a draw (both teams moved up to 5 points) meaning Kerkyra remained behind in third with four points. Kerkyra scored three goals in each half  with Andreopoulos and Georgakopoulos scoring twice and Georgiou and Epstein each adding one goal.
