Panathinaikos defeated Zeljko Obradovic’s Fenerbahce 81-70 at the OAKA Nick Galis Stadium for the 12th round of the Euroleague. It was Obradovic’s fourth trip to the OAKA to face his former team as he left empty handed for a fourth consecutive game. Nick Calathes was the star for the Prasini almost finishing the game with a triple double.
Panathinaikos celebrated their first BIG win in this year’s Euroleague after defeating last year’s finalists, Fenerbahce, 81-70. Panathinaikos took control of the game early on and kept a double digit lead for most of the match. The final quarter saw the Trifylli comfortably hold onto their advantage as their exceptional defense shut down any hopes for a Fenerbahce comeback.
Calathes was by far the best player for Panathinaikos as he finished the game with a double-double, 16-points, 11-assists, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and only 1 turnover. Nichols added 14 points while Feldene and Rivers scored 10 points each. Bourousis scored important buckets in the final quarter to clinch Panathinaikos’ victory as he added nine points.
This is Zeljko Obradovic’s fourth consecutive loss to Panathinaikos as Fenerbahce’s coach. His side dropped to 8-4 for the season while Panathinaikos move up to 7-5. They will play Armani Milano in round 13.
