“Batsa” from Barca

Panathinaikos put on their worst showing of this year’s Euroleague season as they fell 72-57 away to Barcelona. A 14-0 Barcelona run in the third quarter sealed the victory for the Spanish club.

In their previous games on the road, Panathinaikos either celebrated the win or just came up short in the end. It was a different story today for the Trifylli in Barcelona. The Greek club was well in the the game midway through the third quarter (43-40), before their “blackout” saw Barcelona go on a 14-0 run and increase the deficit to 57-40 by the end of the quarter. The visitors were unable to threaten the final result in the fourth quarter as they had a horrendous night on all fronts of the court, especially from behind the arch going 4/26 (15.4%)!

Calathes scored 13-points (1 assist) while Singleton added 12-points for Panathinaikos. Bourousis finished the game with ZERO points. For Bartzokas’ Barcelona, Tomic led the club with 16-points. The Greek coach was well prepared for today’s match by shutting down the Panathinaikos offense and defense while preventing his opponents from creating anything on the transition.

The two teams sit with 0.500 record (5-5) after 10 games in this year’s Euroleague Regular Season. Panathinaikos will host Galatasaray in Round 11 at the OAKA Nick Galis Stadium.
