Mike James led Panathinaikos to an easy 72-86 victory over Armani Milano for the 13th Round of the Euroleague. The American guard put on his best performance with the Prasini since returning from injury. With the win, Panathinaikos increased their record to 8-5.

Panathinaikos traveled to Italy to face a difficult Armani Milano side in what was expected to be a close encounter. It was a good matchup in the first quarter with Armani Milano taking a 21-16 lead into the second period. The Panathinaikos defense SHUTDOWN Armani Milano’s offensive game in the second quarter, holding the Italian club to only EIGHT points in the ten minutes. The Prasini began the quarter with an 11-0 run to take a six point lead (21-27) and with another push in the final five minutes of the half, Panathinaikos went into halftime ahead by 11-points (29-40).

Singleton and Rivers’ three pointers to begin the second half gave Panathinaikos a comfortable lead (29-46) that continued to grow as the game progressed. The end of the third quarter saw the visitors ahead by 22-points (42-64). Very little changed in the final ten minutes with Panathinaikos preserving their lead, going on to win the game 72-86.

Mike James was the MVP for Panathinaikos, finishing the game with 19-points, 7-rebounds, and 3-assists. The American guard put on his best performance since returning from injury, something that will leave coach Xavi Pascual very pleased. Calathes once again played a critical role in Panathinaikos’ win, scoring 16-points and dishing 6-assists. The Prasini had a great day from behind the arch as they went 13 for 34 (38%).

The win moves Panathinaikos up to 8-5 in the Euroleague Regular Season as they sit in 5th place. Although Armani Milano are second from bottom with only four wins from thirteen games, they have recorded big wins at home including Anadolu Efes, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and Laboral Kutxa. Panathinaikos will host a good Laboral Kutxa team (9-4) on Friday at the OAKA Nick Galis Stadium.
