Wales is in the semi-finals! The team from the United Kingdom upset Belgium with a 3-1 victory to progress the last 4. Belgium took the early lead, but three goals from Wales gave the underdogs the comeback victory. Wales will play Portugal in the semi-finals.

Belgium was clearly the better side at the beginning of the game and came close to an opener in the 7th minute, but were denied THREE times in the same chance by the Wales keeper and back line. Six minutes later, Nainggolan’s tremendous 25 meter strike gave Belgium the 1-0 lead. From there, Belgium gave space to Wales and Taylor sent the first warning in the 25th minute, when his shot was saved by Courtois. The leveler came 5 minutes later off a corner that was met by William’s header, that found the back of the net. The first chances of the second half fell to Belgium, but the favorites failed to capitalize their opportunities. In the 55th minute, Wales silenced the Belgian supporters, when Robson-Kanu’s phenomenal dribble freed him in front of goal from 3 defenders and his shot beat Courtois to give Wales the 2-1 lead. Although Belgium controlled the possession of the game, they could not find the tying goal, with the best chance falling to Fellaini in the 75th minute. The game was put to bed 5 minutes from the end, when Ramsey’s cross was met by a well-placed header from Vokes, giving Wales the 3-1 victory.

By defeating the heavy favorites, Wales continued their magical run at UEFA Euro 2016. They topped Group B, ahead of England, and have now defeated both Northern Ireland and Belgium in the knockout phase to secure their spot in the semi-finals. Wales will play Portugal in the last 4 for a place in the UEFA Euro 2016 Final. As for Belgium, they will see Euro 2016 as a story that could have been. With a route to the final involving teams like Hungary, Wales, and Portugal (avoiding all powerhouses), Belgium will be disappointed to bow out in the quarter-finals of the competition. They will now look to World Cup Qualifying where they will play in Group H with Greece.
