- AEK Releases Djebbour and 3 Others -
Rafik Djebbour will part ways with AEK after his one year contract came to an end today. Additionally, Bresevic, Chrisantus, and Zuculini will look for the next stop in their career.
Djebbour returned to AEK for the second time after signing a 1-year contract last summer. This season, the Algerian striker had 31 appearances with only 5 goals. His most important goal came in the Greek Cup semi-final against Atromitos, to send AEK to the cup final. In his first stay at AEK from 2008-2011, Djebbour scored 22 goals with 58 appearances. AEK decided not to renew Djebbour’s contract this summer and the two sides will part ways.
Bresevic, Chrisantus, and Zuculini will join Djebbour in that they will not wear the black and yellow jersey next season. Bresevic played at AEK for 3 seasons and helped the Kitrinomavri return to the SuperLeague, scoring 33 goals from 2013-2015. After his first two great seasons with AEK, an injury prohibited him from making an appearance in the SuperLeague. He was one of the fan favorites and the club thanked him for his contributions to the club. AEK went on to announce “Bresevic leaves AEK with only friends and he has earned the respect from everyone here at the club. We wish you the best in your career”
Chrisantus was with AEk for 1.5 seasons, scoring 8 goals in 27 appearances. As for Zuculini, his one year loan deal from Manchester City comes to end. The Argentinian only had 4 appearances with AEK, due to an injury that afflicted him throughout the season.
