- Thiam Joins PAOK on Loan from Juventus -
PAOK have completed one final signing before the end of this summer’s transfer window. The Dikefalos tou Vora signed Mame Thiam on a 1-year on loan deal from Italian Champions Juventus.
The 23-year old winger signed with Juventus in 2015 after four seasons in Italy’s lower divisions (Serie B & C). Last season, he played on loan to Zulte Waregem from Belgium, helping his side finish in 6th place in Belgium's First Division. He made 29 appearances and scored 9 goals. The Senegalese player will hope to continue his good form with another great season in Greece with PAOK.
Mame Thiam signed a 1-year on loan deal with a buy-out option at the end of the season. According to the player’s manager, Thiam had offers from others clubs including Werder Bremen and Standard Liege. However, Thiam heard great things about PAOK and was enthusiastic about the team’s passionate supporters. This is what ultimately led to Thiam’s decision to join PAOK.
On another note, PAOK received €6 Million from Lucas Perez’s move from Deportivo la Coruna to Arsenal. The Dikefalos tou Vora had 30% of the player’s rights from when he transferred from PAOK to Deportivo in 2015. With Arsenal paying over €20 Million for Perez, PAOK got a major financial boost from the deal.
