Two Greek internationals scored fantastic goals for their respective clubs in today’s domestic league play. Apostolos Vellios opened the score for Nottingham Forest in the English Championship while Kostas Stafylidis’ free-kick was the winner for Augsburg over Werder Bremen.
Apostolos Vellios scored his first goal with Nottingham Forest with a tremendous strike from outside the box. His effort gave Nottingham Forest the 0-1 lead in the 58th minute against Aston Villa in the English Championship. The match ended 2-2 with Villa scoring back-to-back goals in the 72nd and 74th minutes before Lansbury pulled Nottingham Forest level with 3 minutes remaining.
With the scores leveled at 1-1 in the 73rd minute, Kostas Stafylidis’ well-placed free-kick gave Augsburg the 1-2 lead away to Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga. The Greek left back was the hero for Augsburg as his side went on to win their first match of the season.
