GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 4
|Platanias||3 - 2||Levadiakos|
|Manousos 18, 25'
Platanias earned their second victory in the SuperLeague after defeating Levadiakos in Chania 3-2. The Cretan side was up 3-0 before Levadiakos scored twice to get back into the game. In the end, Platanias barely held onto all 3 points and a perfect start to the season.
The first 10 minutes went by without a single shot from either team. Things picked up from there and a fortunate deflection sent Manousos in on goal, driblbling passed Namasco to put the ball into the open net. The goal scorer was lucky once again after Giakoumakis’ pass deflected into the path of Manousos who scored his second goal of the game from close-range. Platanias did not stop there and scored their 3rd goal in 16 minutes when Munafo’s ball was played across the goal and Grigoris Giakoumakis’ tap in gave Platanias the three goal advantage. Shortly after, a defensive mistake was turned in by Karachalios who cut Platanias’ lead to two, giving Levadiakos hopes for a comeback going into the break.
The goal gave confidence to Levadiakos who looked the better side in the second half. The visitors got back into the game when Petros Giakoumakis got the final touch from a Silva’s cross to cut the lead to one. Levadiakos came inches away from an equalizer in the 78th minute, but Milhazes thunderous strike hit the post and went out. In the final ten minutes, Platanias held onto their nerve-racking 3-2 lead and earned their second straight victory in the SuperLeague.
With today’s win, Platanias sits with 6 points in the SuperLeague standings. Next week they travel to Giannina to play PAS while Levadiakos will look for all three points against Kerkyra.
