-- "LITTLE" Pelkas for the BIG Win --
greek superleague - matchday 1
|Levadiakos||0 - 1||PAOK|
A goal in the unlikeliest fashion from Dimitris Pelkas gave PAOK all three points against Levadiakos. Despite his height, Pelkas was able to head home the only goal of the match in the 84th minute, giving PAOK the 0-1 win in Livadeia for matchday 1.
PAOk flirted with another disappointing result this season, but the substitute Dimitris Pelkas was able to lead his side to the three points. The young Greek midfielder beat his opponent in the air (despite his height) to head home Djalma Campos’ cross in the 84th minute, giving PAOK the 0-1 win against Levadiakos. The visitors were clearly the better side in the 90 minutes of play, creating many chances to score in both halves. In the final 30 minutes, PAOK put their foot on the gas and came close to the opener in the 68th minute when Namsco denied both Koulouris and Leo Matos with a double save and four minutes before Pelkas’ goal, Leo Matos’ effort from inside the penalty area was kept out by the post.
Levadiakos also had opportunities to find the back of the net with the best chance of the first half falling to Mantzios, who saw his powerful shot stopped by Glykos.
PAOK now have 20 points as they sit 5th in the standings while Levadiakos inch closer to the drop zone with 12 points from 13 matches.
