Tzavellas Prepares for Move to Cyprus

After breaking his contract with PAOK earlier this week, Giorgos Tzavellas will likely continues his career in Cyprus for APOEL.

According to and reports out of Cyprus, Georgios Tzavellas will be making a move to Cyrpus for APOEL. Tzavellas and the Cypriot Champions have agreed to a new deal and he is expected to travel to the island in the coming days to sign his new contract.

Tzavellas broke his contract with PAOK (signed in September until 2020) this week after a falling out with coach Vladan Ivic (and management) earlier this season. Many teams in Greece (AEK) and in Europe (mainly Real Betis from Spain) expressed their interest in the Greek defender, but it looks as if he will continue his career with APOEL.

Tzavellas has not played a competitive match for a couple of months and will need to re-find his form quickly to get a callup from Greek National Team Coach Michael Skibbe for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Tzavellas was the hero in Greece’s previous qualifier, scoring a last-minute equalizer against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
