-- AEK Complete Impressive Signing with Araujo --
AEK have completed an impressive signing by agreeing to a loan deal for Sergio Araujo from Spanish club Las Palmas.
Sergio Araujo will be the newest addition to AEK this season after agreeing to a loan deal from Las Palmas. The Spanish club officially announced Araujo’s move to Greece for the rest of the season. The contract also has an extension clause for an additional loan year if both AEK and the player want to continue their partnership. If Araujo stays with the Enosis until the summer of 2018, the deal will cost AEK approximately €2 Million.
The 25-year old Argentine striker will be one of the biggest signings for AEK in the last few years having played with Las Palmas since 2014. He led the Spanish club to promotion in his first season which eventually led to his permanent move to Las Palmas (played on loan from Boca Juniors in 2014-2015). Since his transfer to Las Palmas, he has made 41 appearances in the La Liga while scoring seven goals.
Araujo denied offers from five other teams to join AEK, including Gijon, Chievo, Rizespor, Rayo Vallecano, and an offer from Asia.
Araujo arrived in Greece on Thursday to sign his new deal with the Kitrinomavri and will be officially announced by the club tomorrow. Manolo Jimenez will quickly integrate him into the roster to help AEK for the remainder of the season.
