-- Panthrakikos Exit Football League --
Panthrakikos have decided to remove themselves from this year’s Greek Football League due to economical problems at the club.
Similar to last season, this year’s Greek Football League will end with fewer teams than it began with after Panthrakikos announced its decision to remove themselves from the league. The Thrakiotes have faced numerous economical problems this season consisting of high debt and expenses without a sufficient amount of revenue to support the club financially.
Panthrakikos currently sit in the relegation zone with 6 points from 12 games after being handed a six point deduction by the federation for their economic debits. After twelve games, they registered 3 wins, 3 losses, and 6 defeats. Their low placement in the standings and irreversible economic situation led to the club’s final decision to withdraw from the league.
As of last season, Panthrakikos played in the Superleague and have been a consistent member in Greece’s professional leagues for the past 10 seasons. Unfortunately, the club will take the path of AEK, Ergotelis, OFI, Olympiacos Volou, and other notable Greek clubs down to the third division hoping for a fresh new start.
Panthrakikos were scheduled to play Acharnaikos over the weekend with the league announcing the game’s suspension. The players were made aware of the situation and will look for the next stop in their careers.
