Sergio Araujo wasted no time in finding the back of the net for his new club as he scored two goals in AEK’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Levadiakos. The win confirms AEK’s place in the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup.
AEK were without a doubt the clear favorites to advance to the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup after their 0-1 win on the road against Levadiakos in the first of two legs.
AEK dominated the first half and quickly opened the scoring when Bakasetas’ well-placed, left footed effort found the back of the net in the 21st minute. It was then time for AEK’s new signing, Sergio Araujo, to put on a show as he scored his first goal for the club in the 28th minute with a header from Vargas’ cross. The Argentine was not done there as he made it 3-0 after the restart with yet another header with Vargas once again providing the pinpoint cross.
Vargas, who already had two assists, added his name to the score sheet in the 68th minute to make it 4-0 before two goal from Kolovetsios (79’) and Galanopoulos (84’) capped off a fantastic night for AEK.
The 7-0 aggregate win (6-0 on the night) puts AEK in the quarterfinal of the competition where they will face Platanias, who came back to defeated PAS Giannina earlier today.
