AEL Limassol did not have any difficulties over Zakakiou with the galazokitrinoi of Limassol scoring 3 goals in a 0-3 win on Saturday. Captain Marios Nikolaou scored one goal while both Mesca and Arruabarrena (penalty) each found the back of the net for the visitors. AEL took advantage of the draw between APOEL and AEK to capture 2nd place, just 3 points behind the leaders APOEL. AEZ remain in the relegation zone and will need to get some points in their upcoming fixtures if they want to avoid immediate relegation.

Apollon continued with another win, defeating Doxa 3-1, and reached eight consecutive wins under the guidance of Sofronis Avgousti. For Apollon, the goals came from Vinicius, Sardinero, and Piech while Corominas formed the final score with a late consolation goal for the visitors. Apollon are now in 3rd place, four points behind APOEL and one point behind AEL. Doxa are twelth, just one place above the immediate relegaztion zone.

In an important game for 6th place, Nea Salamina and Ermis were both unable to find the back of the net. Both teams wasted chances as the draw favors Ermis rather than Nea Salamina. Ermis are now 7th, tied on points with 6th placed Anorthosis, while Nea Salamina are 9th only two points behind their opponents.

In the weekend’s big derby, both APOEL and AEK gave it their all for the win however the match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that favors the league leaders, APOEL. AEK scored first with Florian taking advantage of a mistake in the heart of APOEL’s defence, but APOEL responded in the second half in a similar way with Pieros Sotiriou scoring his 15th goal of the season. Both teams wasted chances for a winner, but neither side could find the breakthrough as the teams settled for a draw. Unfortunately for AEK, both their goalkeeper Mino and winger Tete were taken off with serious injuries. With the result, APOEL remain first while AEK retrieved to 4th place behind AEL and Apollon.

Anorthosis continued their good spell of form by coming away with a 3-0 win against bottom of the table Anagennisi Deryina. The goals came from Gabriel, Andre Alves (scored his first goal since his move from AEK), and Ruben Rayos. Anagennisis were unable to respond to their opponent’s superiority and are stuck at the bottom of the table with only 6 points. Anorthosis have now managed to climb into 6th place along with Ermis and are within their goal of joining the playoff championship group.

In a goalfest in Limasssol, Omonia defeated Aris 2-4. The visitors opened the scoring with Arnason before Aurelio equalized in the 21st minute. Three goals followed from Omonia (including one from Lukas Vyntra) as Shkurtaj scored a late consolation goal to shape the final score 2-4. The result keeps Aris near the bottom of the table while Omonia are 5th with 44 points.
