-- Sa Pinto Celebrates First Win As Atromitos Boss --
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 20
|Asteras Tripolis||0 - 1||Atromitos|
Atromitos celebrated a SuperLeague victory for the first time in over two months as newly-installed coach Ricardo Sa Pinto guided the Peristeri outfit to a narrow 0-1 away win over Asteras Tripolis.
Atromitos, who held runaway league leaders Olympiacos to a draw at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in a midweek Greek Cup match on Sa Pinto’s coaching debut, were in determined mood again for their new boss, with the vital goal coming from striker Abiola Dauda.
The Nigerian frontman netted from close range in first-half added time after good work by Dimitris Limnios, and that goal proved enough to secure a three-point haul for Atromitos for the first time since a 2-1 win at Larissa on December 4. It was Duada’s first goal in league play after scoring four goals in two legs against Lamia in the Greek Cup Round of 16,
Although Atromitos remain in ninth place with 26 points, the much-needed win will lift the gloom that has been hovering over the club for the last couple of months.
Tripolis are in danger of being sucked into the relegation battle if results do not improve as the Arcadians are seven points above the drop zone.
