GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 21
|Asteras Tripolis||0 - 5||Panathinaikos|
Panathinaikos stormed to second spot in the SuperLeague on Saturday courtesy of a 5-0 away rout of struggling Asteras Tripolis at the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium in their Matchday 21 contest.
Goals from Victor Klonaridis, Marcus Berg, Rodrigo Moledo, Paul-Jose M’Poku and Olivier Boumal saw the Greens demolish their dispirited opponents who are currently in freefall. Panathinaikos scored four first half goals, tying a record from 1994 (23 years ago).
Marinos Ouzounidis’ Panathinaikos side have now scored nine goals in their last two league matches (13 goals in three games if you include Panathinaikos’ 0-4 win against Kissamikos in the cup) following last week’s 4-0 success against Panaitolikos, and the Trifili are now level on 38 points with Panionios - temporarily displacing the latter since the Nea Smyrni side face Iraklis at home on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Tripolis, who last won on January 14 - a 4-1 home win against Panaitolikos, have won just five matches out of 21 this season and are hovering just six points clear of the two relegation places. Coach Dimitris Eleftheropoulos was sacked after today’s result.
