-- Goal for Kolovos Comes With Serious Injury --
Dimitris Kolovos scored once again for Mechelen, but left the game with a VERY serious injury.
Dimitris Kolovos scored Mechelen’s second goal on the night when his great solo effort and well-placed shot gave his side a 2-0 lead over Lokeren. It was his fifth goal of the season in league play.
However, six minutes later, the Greek player was subbed off due a serious knee injury after contesting the ball with fellow countryman Georgios Galitsios of Lokeren. The first indications seem to be a torn ACL, which would leave Kolovos out for six months and the remainder of the season. The official diagnosis will be announced on Monday after he completes the diagnostic medical tests.
Michael Skibbe was ready to call up Kolovos for Greece’s qualifier against Belgium in March seeing that Kolovos has had a great season with his club. Unfortunately, it looks like Kolovos will have to wait until the fall for his first international cap.
