AEK Take Dikefalos Derby and Close In On 3rd Place

AEK came away with a 77-71 victory over PAOK in the weekend’s Basket League derby to close in on third place for the regular season. Roko Ukic led the charge for the Enosis.
In a game that proved to be a real “derby” AEK defeated PAOK 77-71 at the OAKA Nick Galis Hall. The visitors got off to a flying start as they pulled ahead by as many as 13-points in the first quarter (16-29) before a strong second quarter from AEK brought them within two points going into halftime (37-39).
In the second half, AEK slowly found their rhythm to take the lead (64-57), however PAOK continued to fight back and cut AEK’s lead to two points (73-71) with just over a minute remaining in the game. The Kitrinomavri’s best player on the night, Roko Ukic, sealed the win with a crucial bucket (75-71) as the final score wrote 77-71 in favor of the hosts.
Roko Ukic was the MVP for AEK, finishing the game with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and two assists while coming through for the Enosis during critical points in the game. For PAOK, McFadden and Clanton scored 16 and 17 points, respectively, as the Dikefalos to Vora’s record fell to 10-9.
The win keeps AEK comfortably in third place with a 15-4 record as fourth placed Aris trail the Enosis by four games with an 11-8 record.
