Atromitos Strike at the End

Atromitos 1 - 0 Iraklis
90'+1' Vasiliou

Supersub Thomas Vasiliou struck in added time to clinch a precious 1-0 win for Atromitos against Iraklis to keep the Athenian side in the playoff race and at the same time dash their opponents hopes of escaping the relegation zone.

Vasiliou, who came on in the 85th minute of this tightly contested Matchday 23 clash in Peristeri, side-footed home after good work from Vangelis Platellas in the first minute of added time.

The win moved Atromitos up to eighth place with 35 points with seven matches to play, and Ricardo Sa Pinto’s men are now just four points away from fifth-placed Skoda Xanthi and the final playoff spot.

The picture is more bleak for Iraklis, who remain in the drop zone in 15th spot after failing to capitalise on Levadiakos’ loss to Panaitolikos on Saturday.
