In their last game in the first division, Zakakiou did not manage to say goodbye with a good performance. Doxa however got the three points with an emphatic 4-0 win and will now fight for survival in the playoff relegation group. The goals came from Fofana, Tiago Gomes, Braulio, and Corominas. Doxa now trail 11th placed Aris by four points.

In the first of the weekend’s two derbies, APOEL managed to defeat their rivals Omonoia 2-1. APOEL were better in the first half, however as the half looked to finish goalless, two late penalties for the hosts turned into goals from Sotiriou and Baral. In the second half, APOEL pushed for a third goal while Omonoia looked to get back into the game with a goal of their own. A few minutes before the end, Derbyshire pulled on back for the visitors, but it was too late as the Prasini came away empty handed from the match. APOEL continue to lead the title race and will enter the playoffs, four points ahead of 2nd placed AEK. Omonoia remain 5th just a point behind 4th AEL.

In a battle between two teams that will compete in the postseason relegation group saw Karmiotissa defeat Nea Salamis 1-3 on the road. Despite Karmiotissa looking better on the pitch, it was the hosts who scored first with a penalty from Makriev. Karmiotissa, who continued to play better than their opponents, managed to turn the game around in the 2nd half with three goals from Barbaro, Dimitriou, and Pasek. The result brought the sacking of Salaminas coach Staikos Vergetis.. The win pushes Karmiotissa further away from any possible return to the 2nd division.

Four goals from four penalties formed the final 3-1 at Tsireio stadium between Aris and Ethnikos. All three goals for Aris came from successful penalty kicks by Rogerio Martins, while Ethnikos’ only goal came from the Pinceli’s spot kick. The prasinoi of Limassol gained three very important points in their battle to avoid relegation trailing four points 12th placed Doxa. Ethnikos on the other hand are ten points above the relegation zone, but they need to improve in order to stay away from any possible trouble.

In the weekend’s second derby,  Anorthosis and Apollon played to a goalless draw at the Antonis Papadopoulos stadium. Early on, Semedo saw a red card leaving Apollon with ten players for the remainder of the game. Anorthosis took advantage of the extra player and lost a few chances to open the score while Apollonas manage to balance out the game as the minutes progressed. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net as the match finished goalless. Apollonas fell to third, one point behind AEK, and are now five points behind APOEL. Anorthosis remain in 6th place and will now test their abilities in the championship playoff group.

In the most shocking result of the weekend, AEL fell 1-2 to Ermis in Limassol. The game was an absolute offensive monologue from AEL however they came up on the wrong end of result. Ermis managed to score with De Melo in the 57th minute changing the turn of the game. AEL pushed on to find the equalizer but goalkeeper Stylianou denied the hosts on many occasions. Ermis struck again with Mashinya to double the visitors lead as AEL only managed to score a late goal with Maurou. The defeat from Ermis caused trouble within the club with coach Pampos Christodoulou stepping down while the fans are in an open conflict with the club’s administration. Moreover after the latest results, AEL are 4th eleven points behind 1st placed APOEL. Ermis achieved a great victory and now enter the playoff stage as first in the relegation group.
