Lamia are the Football League’s new leaders after their win over Kalloni as Apollon Smyrnis drew away to Panegialios. Both OFI and Aris were victorious over the weekend while Sparti, Agrotikos Asteras, Trikala, and Panserraikos all celebrated wins.

Apollon Smyrnis fell from top spot in the Football League after dropping points in a goalless draw away to Panegialios. Apollon Smyrnis have been flirting with a “gela” over the past couple of matches, having won with late goals, but in Aigio the disappointing result was not avoided. The visitors did however have a great chance to steal all three points in the 82nd minute, but Kone failed to convert from the penalty spot. Apollon sit second, two points behind now first placed Lamia.

Lamia took full advantage of Apollon Smyrnis’ draw to jump into first place in the league standings with a 4-0 thumping of Kalloni. The match was put to bed in the opening 30 minutes with goals from Durmishaj and Mastoukas (2). Covic added a fourth in second half stoppage time as Lamia recorded their 10th win at home from 10 matches.

A beauty from Pitu Garcia in the 31st minute gave Aris a 1-0 win over Kissamikos in a mediocre performance from the Thessaloniki club. The result moves Aris within six points of second placed Apollon Smyrnis as they fight for promotion to the Superleague. Kissamikos are tied for 12th, four points clear of the drop zone.

OFI struggled on the road against Panelefsiniakos but managed to come away with a 0-3 win over the league’s last placed team. It took 70 minutes for the visitors to open the scoring, with Manos providing the breakthrough. Kotsios and Pangalos added two goals in the final 12 minutes as OFI now trail second placed Apollon Smyrnis by 11 points.

Both Sparti and Agrotikos Asteras celebrated late wins as they sit in fifth and sixth spot in the rankings, respectively. Galitsios gave Sparti the 1-0 win with his 88th minute goal against Anagennisi Karditsas while Giotatan’s 85th minute winner gave Agrotikos Asteras all three points in a 1-2 win away to Kallithea.

Trikala thrashed Acharnaikos 5-0 with a FANTASTIC first half performance (all five goals) where Kouskounas scored a hat-trick while Gianitsanis and Rizogiannis (penalty) gave the hosts an emphatic win. Panserraikos now sit comfortably mid-table with an impressive 0-1 win on the road against Chania, who fell down to 9th in the standings. Gourtsas scored the game’s only goal in the 77th minute.

Aiginiakos were awarded all three points against Panthrakikos, but continue to sit in the relegation zone.
