With Panathinaikos putting on one of their best performances of the season, the Prasini defeated Real Madrid 88-82 at the Nick Galis Olympic Stadium for the 25th round of this year’s Euroleague regular season.

After suffering two straight defeats in the Euroleague, Panathinaikos came up with a big win against the Euroleague leaders, Real Madrid. It was a convincing performance from the Prasini, showing that they really could be a threat in the playoffs and that this year’s Final-4 is NOT an unrealistic goal.

It was a close encounter in Athens with the teams exchanging the lead throughout most the game. After a dead even three quarters (58-58), a late push from Panathinaikos gave them a 6 point lead, which proved to be decisive in the end as they celebrated a 88-82 victory.

The Trifylli were solid on the defensive end, causing 16 turnovers, while FIVE players finished the game with double digit points, including James (14 pts), Feldene (14 pts), Rivers (13 pts), Gist (11 pts), and Panathinaikos’ best player on the night Singleton with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

The win increased Panathinaikos’ record to 15-11 and they now sit comfortably in a playoff position, claiming 5th place in the standings, one win ahead of 6th and 7th placed Crvena Zvezda and Anadolu Efes.
