-- AEK DROWN IN AGRINIO --
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 16
|Panetolikos||3 - 2||AEK|
Makos 55', 82'
AEK’s downfall continued in a rainy Agrinio as they were handed a 3-2 defeat by Panaitolikos. The result led to the resignation of AEK’s coach Jose Morais.
In a match which summed up AEK’s indifferent form this season, the Kitrinomavri fell behind to Marko Markovski’s early 12th-minute penalty, before actually taking the lead through strikes from Portuguese veteran striker Hugo Almeida (22’) and midfielder Konstantinos Galanopoulos (33’).
However, AEK old boy Grigoris Makos returned to haunt his former club with two goals in the 55th and 82nd minutes as the visitors collapsed in the second half.
After the match, Jose Morais resigned from his position as AEK manager with club falling to sixth in the table with 22 points after 16 matches, and a massive 17 points adrift of leaders Olympiacos.
Panetolikos are mid table with 19 points.
